Callander Kirk has been an eco-congregation for over ten years and work in the church is led by a Green Team with current members: Ray Sly, Dorothy Mitchell, Elaine Vanhegan, Jen Spiers, Iain Lang and Margaret Warnock. If you would like to know more (or join the Team!) please speak to one of us.

Recent projects have included:

Fundraising and creating Creation Corner - a special space in the church building. This space is used flexibly by small groups for prayer and other meetings, for Time for Silence or by parents with young children during services. It is used as a space to focus on and display information about caring for creation.

Creation Prayers

May  this eternal truth.   Thank you Lord.

We have already displayed artwork in Creation Corner on the theme of “Water” with Nessa Walker‘s beautiful wall hanging as the first contribution.

Rainbow” and “New Life” themes have followed and, on Palm Sunday, making palm branches from recycled newspapers! Different groups from the congregation will be bringing their own themes and messages throughout the year.

Toilet Twinning - following on from the “Water” theme the congregation raised funds to “twin” three of our toilets in the Kirk Hall.  Twinning helps provide sanitation for those in desperate poverty who no have access to a proper latrine, clean water and the information they need to be healthy http://www.toilettwinning.org/)

Collections for recycling of computer printer cartridges and mobile phones – these are donated by members of the congregation, some local businesses and other members of the community and are sent to be recycled. MORE
